Free-Time-Lazy-Mode
You know that saying, “Everything in moderation”? Well, depending on what it is, the prospect of taking it to the next level isn’t half bad when you turn it up to eleven for a whole day once in a while. It can be a real cleansing, whiteboard erasing, total decompression reset button on life.
(This is also kind of a grey area on what you choose to momentarily over-indulge in. Going into anaphylactic shock, overdosing on any kind of chemical, getting alcohol poisoning, or having respiratory failure is in no way a good idea.)
Yes, I agree that obsessing in excess over one thing or another, every day, can be unhealthy and potentially volatile. Too much food, you end up getting overweight and wrecking your health. Too much video gaming, you end up having no life, suffer from constant headaches, sore hands, and carpal tunnel. Too much alcohol, you end up having a body wide system failure. Too much caffeine, you end up with constant insomnia and nervousness. Too much loud music, you end up needing a hearing aid. Too much drugs, you probably die. Too much sex, you end up… dehydrated? Well, unless you have a partner that hates water breaks, I think that you’ll be just fine on that front. Ya freaky-deeky machine you.
My point being is that for the most part, you should try to mix it up in life. Keep a clean lifestyle of non-damaging activities and every once in a while, do something that is relaxing and fun that you would not normally do.
Like the outdoors and go on nature walks every week? Why not go camping for a day and night with friends? Like listening to music every day while at work and home? Why not take a trip to a live show? You get what I am saying? Turn it up every now and then. Take a break for a day from your daily routine.
My day-to-day routine is work, one hour of lite exercise, one hour of art series creation, one hour of downtime with a book, then sleep. Wash-rinse-repeat. Doing this for two to three weeks can get a bit mundane. So I pick a day of LAZY WHATEVER to forget about everything.
For me, it’s binging tv shows and movies. Or sitting at one of my consoles and delving into a game or three while listening to music. Or drawing all day while listening to music. Not too exciting, I know. But it keeps me refreshed on a mental level.
In one week I will be engaged in a movie binge marathon. I am thinking it will be a John Cusack, greatest hits, endeavor. Better Off Dead, Gross Point Blank, Must Love Dogs, Hot Tub Time Machine, Pushing Tin, Say Anything, Serendipity, and High Fidelity.
I don’t know what it is. But just thinking about it makes me look forward on being a slob for a day. Soda, popcorn, licorice, a grilled cheese sandwich, Reese’s Pieces, pizza, ice cream, and Tums….
Yes… water, & a hearty blueberry-apple-pear salad too. How else am I gonna poop all that crap out?
