Genre • Polyspectral Alternative

These are songs I wrote but did not perform.

I wanted to gather a lifetime of experiences, memories, frustrations, victories, and failures into one body of work. Instead of picking a single style and staying there, I let every kind of music that shaped me find its way into the songs.

GENtelXc isn’t a real band. The singers aren’t real. Neither is the album.

The lyrics are real. Written over the span of my youth and adulthood. Every word came from somewhere I have been, someone I have known, something I have seen, or something I have done. There are even secret moments I could never put into a conversation for reasons of fear and self doubt. You know, what an artist does.

This music has no interest in staying inside one genre. Rock collides with Pop. Metal slips into Country, then Ska. Punk gives way to Blues, then Alternative gives a hug. Jazz and Bluegrass butt in without any right of way. This isn’t a “chasing novelty for its own sake” sort of thing. Every shift serves the source it came from. Like it has throughout my existence.

Some moments hit hard. Others barely raise their depth. Both matter just as much. Even when different ideas pile on top of each other, they never fight for attention... much. They make room for one another. The songs rarely travel where you expect. A melody changes direction just as it starts to feel familiar. An arrangement refuses to settle. The music keeps moving because that’s what life does. Every track sounds different, yet they remain tied together by the same point of view.

This isn’t a collection of genres.

It’s my life, translated into pain and joy.
