Schooling on Purpose
(copy & pasted from 6 months ago)
You would think, as modern society has implied, that getting a diploma and maybe even a degree would be the last time (for the most part) one would ever have to step into a classroom. They (grown ups/teachers) don’t really go out of their way in telling kids that they can keep going to school off and on for the rest of their life. Not that many people do that. Never mind teachers and professors, obviously.
I will say though, that going back to school is a mixed bag on the individual. Some of us have a hard time with the environment and the curriculum. Others thrive on it. And there are those few that find it a waist of time because it is not stimulating or remotely a challenge. Quite honestly, if you are in the right frame of mind, a library card is all you need. Granted you won’t have the backing of getting outside real world experience conversations that you can interact with. The knowledge is there, just not the human connection.
Soon I will be thrusting myself back into that environment to get that human back and forth banter along with the knowledge. However, I do have reservations. Do I really need that kind of structure in my life now? I am set in my ways and I would have to change a lot to accommodate. Should I go the route of online schooling? That right there still has structure though I wouldn’t have to change my routine as much. Should I try out the MasterClass series to see if it will be of any help? I just don’t know. I shutter at the thought of even contemplating getting an internship at a newspaper or magazine. Not something I am willing to experience. I was an intern once before and it was horrible. Barely did any work related to the field I was actually going into.
I obviously need to think about this more…

Damn it!!! I still don’t know. Maybe I will just do the MasterClass series and stick with the book structure reading. Then decide. Maybe I can try and meet a literary editor and pay for private lessons. Ugh, this shouldn’t be that hard to figure out.
