Fettle-Kilter-Vigor-Fat
What kind of healthy does this generation hope to embrace? Is it far too gone to change?
Being a kid now-a-days is jam packed with fear, stress, anxiety, and bull$#!+ routine structures that don’t entirely avoid the problem at hand. It wasn’t always like this. (All of this depending of course on the kind of environment the kids are growing up in.) I can only speak about what I have experienced and what I have observed in lower and middle class homes and areas. It is the average mentality of that type of family dynamic. If one actually exists for the sake of this statement.
I am in no way any spring chick’ling. So I can comfortably say that I have grown up during a time when the structure of being healthy was very basic and laced with bogus fact. Not a whole lot of science to back things up. If you were a fat kid back then, that was for the most part, just genetics, like the “grownups” said. You dealt with it and that was that. Don’t think that I am saying there weren’t parents/families & healthy people, both promoting healthy diet lifestyles and fitness. It just wasn’t in your face like it is today. You had to look for it and by chance stumble upon it out of nowhere. Back then, Richard Simmons, Jay Kordich, Jane Fonda, Jack LaLanne, Arnold Swartzenger, Jim Fixx etc… were the main celebs on tv and in magazines promoting these kinds of lifestyles. We kids were told that the food group pyramid was the end all-be all of necessary foods to consume. A Swedish invention mind you. That being said, small portions in moderation of these “base foods” didn’t pose the kind of threat that most of it does today. It was the fast food back then that was the problem. Well that, and almost every suburban household saturated their food in butter and grease.
You know what the kicker was back then? The healthy advocate of exercise and running, Jim Fixx. After writing a bestselling book about running. He died of a massive heart attack. What was he doing when he had it you may ask? He was friggen jogging, that’s when! We didn’t know it back then, but it wasn’t because he ran so much. It was a genetic condition. But that didn’t matter to those of us wanting to be healthy. We were just shocked by the irony and wondered if being healthy was really the way to go about living. It is not to dissimilar from what a lot of people believe this very day. A smoker can live to be over 90 years old, eating junk food every day of their life. And on the other hand, a young healthy adult athlete of 26 drops dead from a clogged artery. Where is the sense in that? Is it just dumb luck? Is it just a false parable of extremes meant to discredit what works for the human body?
Welcome to 2023 children. Say hello to health disorders and mental anxiety issues! Mass quantities of a variety of pesticides, GMO’d food for livestock, powdered, pasteurized, and chemically injected with preservatives. It’s like a medical field smorgasbord of potential patents waiting to be admitted. Take a ticket. Your number will be called in the order it was received.
Unless you grow your own natural foods in a garden out back, you are ingesting metals and chemicals that should not be in your body. It is quite terrifying when you do the hard “real research” on the food industry production practices. For example; fast food in the 70’s, used to be just like peasant food back in the horse and cart days. Lots of fat. But now, not only is there fat. It’s the bad kind of fat, mixed with detergents and ammonias. And don’t get me started on the sugars. Most of it isn’t even real sugar. But sugar substitutes like overly processed sucrose (a disaccharide made from glucose and fructose). Derived from nuts, fruits, and vegetables. High quantities of this (which it is in an alarmingly high volume of foods) is disastrous to the human body. And this is just near the top of the long list.
Can anyone say, population control? Think about it for a second. Yes, the Earth’s population is ever increasing. That being said, what do you think it would be like if all corporate food companies produced actual safe and healthy food in place of what they produce now? Lots and lots more people, that’s what.
Would it be like The Purge every year you think? How else would society keep the food stores from going tits up?
Food for thought.
